Dr. Pedersen has been practicing Optometry in Edmonton since 2013. Dr. Pedersen is a proud Albertan – born in Medicine Hat and raised in Edmonton. Prior to optometry school he graduated from the University of Alberta with two degrees – a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Molecular Biology and Genetics. Later, he attended Optometry school at the prestigious University of Waterloo. His internships included placements at Omni eye center in Baltimore, MD and at Polytechnic University in Hong Kong.
Dr. Pedersen is committed to providing high quality eye care. He will take the time to properly address patient’s concerns and explain their exam results in an easy to understand way.
Outside of work Dr. Pedersen is a father of two great kids. He enjoys running, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Al Qishawi attended the University of Alberta, where he earned his Bachelor of Science. He went on to pursue his Doctor of Optometry at Inter American University of Puerto Rico School of Optometry.
Throughout his professional training, Dr. Al Qishawi developed extensive knowledge in ocular pathology and gained experience providing primary eye care to patients of all ages. He has a particular interest in pediatric optometry, as well as the early detection, prevention, and management of eye diseases.
Dr. Al Qishawi speaks English, Arabic and Spanish.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Al Qishawi enjoys staying active through sports, travelling, and spending time with family and friends, especially on a nice summer day.
Sha has been working in the optical field for over 10 years. Originally from China, Sha moved to Canada in 2002 to attend the University of Alberta – completing a Master of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics. While her husband was attending optometry school in Waterloo, Sha completed the opticians’ program through NAIT.
Sha is experienced and always willing to listen and help. She takes pride in helping patients choose the perfect set of frames and explaining different lens options. Whether you require single vision, progressives, or a task-specific pair of glasses, Sha is committed to helping patients find a frame and lens that work best for their individual needs. Sha is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese.
Outside of work Sha is a mother of two great kids. She enjoys watching movies and spending time with family and friends.
Kourtney was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and moved to Alberta in 2013. Since a young age, she has experienced her fair share of optical issues and has gained a keen interest in the field of optometry. Kourtney started her career in reception, covering for a coworker’s maternity leave, and found a world she felt at ease in. A passion for quality eye care drove her to further her education with NAIT through their Optical Sciences program, which she completed in April of 2019. For the past six years, she has worked hard to bring high-quality eye care products to her customers. Working with River City Eye Care has fulfilled her career, and she is proud to work for such a wonderful, honest, and compassionate company. Kourtney has enjoyed working in an establishment that directly reflects her own core values. With coworkers that share her interests, she will always be able to lend her expertise in any situation needed, and is happy to help all patients with their optical needs.
Outside of work, Kourtney enjoys spending time with her family, raising her son, reading novels, and growing her knowledge in the world of optics.
Mellisa was born in Grande Prairie and moved to Edmonton when she was just three years old. She has been wearing glasses since she was 12 and started wearing contact lenses at 19, so eye care has been a part of her own life for many years.
Mellisa joined the optical industry during COVID and quickly discovered how much she enjoyed it. She loves learning about eye health and helping people find the right glasses. She especially enjoys seeing how something as simple as the right eyewear can make such a positive difference in someone’s life.
When she’s not at the clinic, Mellisa enjoys spending time with her kids and pets. She loves being a mom, travelling, and making the most of every opportunity to spend quality time with her family.
